Who ChoreShark is for
ChoreShark accounts are for adults. You must be 18 or older to create one, and the account holder is responsible for their household.
An adult can add child profiles to their own account, so a child can be given tasks and keep their own aquarium. A child profile is a display name the adult chooses, an optional PIN, and the tasks and game progress recorded against it. It has no email address, no password and no sign-in of its own, and no free-text field that other people can read.
We ask for nothing about the child: no real name, no age, no date of birth, no photo, no contact details. A child profile cannot invite anyone, join a household, buy anything or change account settings.
The adult who owns the account can see, rename and delete a child profile and everything recorded against it, at any time, in Settings. Deleting the account deletes its child profiles with it.
What we process
We process account identity, household membership, chores, completion history, notification preferences, aquarium progress, purchase and entitlement history, and diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service. Where an account has child profiles, this includes the display name the adult gave each profile and that profile's tasks, completion history, notification preferences and aquarium progress.
We also record first-party product analytics, for example which areas of the app you use and whether a purchase completes, so we can run and improve the funnel. ChoreShark contains no advertising and does not use third-party advertising or audience-selling analytics SDKs.
Signing in
Account identity is handled by SharkID. You can sign in with email or with Google sign-in (OAuth on the web; Credential Manager on Android). We set a session cookie so you stay signed in. The Android app schedules local device notifications from a plan our servers generate.
Purchases
Purchases of diamonds and boosters are handled by Google Play on Android and by Stripe on the web. Those providers process your payment details; we never receive or store your card number. We record which product you bought, when, and the resulting entitlement so we can credit your account, restore purchases across devices, and reverse in-app currency if Play or Stripe reports a refund.
Google Play Data Safety (and Apple App Privacy labels if we publish on the App Store) will describe this same collection.
Where it is hosted
ChoreShark is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes your use of the app and stores the account, household, chore, and progress data needed to provide the service.
Data is used to provide synchronized household task features, calculate rewards, process purchases, prevent abuse, and support the service. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Active account data is retained while the account exists. After deletion:
- Live ChoreShark and SharkID records are removed immediately.
- Database backups are kept for up to 30 days and then deleted.
- Security and incident logs may be retained for up to 90 days.
- Records required by law may be retained only for the required period.
- Child profile data is removed with its profile, or with the account it belongs to.
